Inflatable Event Tent Specifications: How Buyers Can Compare the Right Specs Before Ordering
Two inflatable event tent quotations can look almost identical and still describe very different products.
A supplier may write 5 × 5 m, but that dimension could refer to the outer footprint or another measurement reference. A listed weight may mean the tent body only, while another supplier may be showing the complete shipment. Even a line as simple as “Oxford fabric” tells you very little unless you know which part of the inflatable structure it describes.
So when comparing quotations, the first job is not to decide which number looks better. It is to make sure the numbers mean the same thing.
Once those definitions are clear, dimensions, materials, weight, packing, accessories and price become much easier to compare.
Check What Each Specification Actually Measures
If you are learning how to read an inflatable tent quotation, start with the definition behind each figure.
On paper, specification sheets look objective. Numbers feel easier to compare than product descriptions. In practice, a number is only useful when you know exactly what it measures.
Two quotations may both say:
- 5 × 5 m
- Oxford fabric
- 50–60 kg
- Custom printing
and still describe products with different footprints, material systems, included accessories and shipping requirements.
We saw this in a European event-agency procurement project. The agency was comparing two quotations for a 5 × 5 m sealed-air inflatable tent. The cheaper quotation showed a lower weight and initially looked more competitive. Once the details were checked, however, its 5 × 5 m referred to usable interior space rather than the outer footprint, the listed weight excluded walls and anchoring accessories, and the airtight bladder material had not been disclosed. After the full configuration and shipping were calculated, the comparison looked very different.
The issue was not simply that one quotation was cheaper than the other.
The problem was that the buyer had been comparing numbers that were based on different definitions.
That is why price comparison should come after specification definitions have been aligned.
Compare Outer Dimensions and Usable Interior Space Separately
A 5 × 5 m inflatable tent sounds straightforward until you ask:
5 × 5 m measured where?
For MX inflatable tents, the stated size refers to the outer footprint.
That means a 5 × 5 m tent occupies approximately that amount of site area from the outside of the structure. It does not mean there is a completely unobstructed 25 m² interior.
The inflatable legs and beams occupy part of the footprint.
For an event agency working within an approved stand boundary, this distinction matters immediately. If the supplier defines the size differently, a tent that appears correct on the quotation can exceed the available site area.
For a brand planning counters, product displays or seating, the question changes slightly: how much working space remains once the inflatable structure is inside that footprint?
These are three separate checks:
How much ground space does the tent occupy?
How much interior space remains usable?
Does that usable space work with the planned layout?
Side height and center height should also be treated as reference dimensions for the relevant model rather than assumed to be universal figures for every possible configuration.

Understand What the Sealed-Air Structure Is Made From
Material descriptions are another area where a quotation can look complete while still leaving an important question unanswered.
If the specification only says:
Oxford fabric
you still do not know what is holding the air inside the frame.
MX Inflatable Spider Tents and Long Tents use a sealed-air structure with two material layers performing different functions.
The TPU inner bladder forms the airtight chamber.
The Oxford fabric outer cover protects the inflatable structure and provides the visible surface used for branding and printing.
Those materials should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions of the whole product. They are doing different jobs.
The operating method matters too.
A sealed-air tent is inflated, the valve is closed, and the frame remains inflated without a blower running continuously.
For an event buyer, that changes the equipment needed on site and how the structure is operated during the event.
We do not use operating pressure as a headline comparison figure for customers. Exact pressure is model-specific, and it is not something the user normally measures during inflation in day-to-day event use.
A more useful comparison is:
What type of inflatable system is being used? What forms the airtight chamber? What equipment is required to inflate it?
That tells a buyer far more than an isolated PSI number or a single fabric label.
A Weight Figure Is Easy to Misread
Weight usually appears early in a B2B quotation because buyers are thinking about handling, storage and international transport.
But a tent listed at 50 kg is not automatically lighter than another listed at 58 kg.
The first question should be: what is included in the number?
For MX projects, three figures can be separated where relevant.
Net Product Weight
This refers to the main tent body.
It helps the buyer understand the physical weight of the product itself before optional items are added.
Final Shipping Weight
This is the weight of everything that will actually be shipped.
Depending on the order, that may include selected walls, pumps, sandbags, storage equipment and other accessories.
A customer ordering only the core tent and another ordering a more complete event package should not expect the same shipment weight.
Packed Dimensions
The final packed dimensions are confirmed after the actual order configuration and packing arrangement are known.
That is why MX does not treat one generic packing dimension as permanently applicable to every order.
Accessories and packing choices can change the shipment volume even when the tent itself has not changed.
For international transport, this matters because package volume can affect the amount charged by a carrier. FedEx, for example, defines dimensional weight according to the space a package occupies and states that the shipment may be charged according to the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight.

So if Supplier A lists 50 kg and Supplier B lists 58 kg, do not immediately conclude that Supplier A will be cheaper to ship.
Ask for:
the net tent weight, the final shipment weight and the final packed dimensions.
Then compare.
Check What You Actually Need to Inflate and Anchor the Tent
A quotation should also help you understand what happens after the shipment arrives.
For inflation, MX tents can be used with a suitable electric pump, manual pump or cordless electric pump.
Customers do not have to purchase an MX pump if they already have suitable equipment. What matters is that the inflation nozzle is compatible with the tent valve.
That may seem like a small detail, but it is useful for event agencies and distributors that already hold pumps in stock. There is little reason to buy the same function twice simply because it comes from a different supplier.
Anchoring needs the same practical check.
MX inflatable tents are built with fixed D-rings and sewn attachment positions for ropes.
Ropes and stakes are supplied with the tent, along with TPU emergency repair patches.
Other accessories can be added according to the project, including:
- electric, manual or cordless pumps
- sandbags
- storage bags
- wheeled storage cases
Before deciding that one quotation is cheaper, look at what is actually included.
A lower starting price may be less attractive once items required for the intended setup are added later.
That does not mean every customer needs the same accessory package. A distributor may already own pumps. An indoor project may have different anchoring requirements from an outdoor activation.
The important part is that the included and optional items are clear before the quotations are compared.
A 5 × 5 m Tent Is Not a Complete Specification
Size is only one part of a custom inflatable event tent.
Two tents with the same 5 × 5 m footprint can become quite different products once the final configuration is added.
MX mainly uses heat-transfer printing for inflatable event tents, while UV printing is used less frequently.
Walls, doors and other openings can be configured in different positions and quantities according to the project.
An open tent used for a short product display is therefore not the same specification as a 5 × 5 m tent with several walls, defined entrance positions and larger printed surfaces.
The nominal size has not changed. The finished product has.
This is why size and price alone are not enough when comparing quotations.

Repairability Is Part of the Specification Too
Repair information is often missing from the main technical table, but for buyers who plan to reuse the structure, it is worth checking before the first order.
A small leak in an MX TPU bladder can be accessed and repaired using a TPU emergency patch following the repair guidance.
More serious local damage does not necessarily mean replacing the complete tent.
The leg sections can be separated, allowing the affected bladder to be serviced or replaced independently.
For an event agency, distributor or touring brand team, that changes the ownership question.
Instead of looking only at purchase price, it is worth asking:
If one section is damaged after repeated transport and use, what actually needs to be replaced?
That is more useful than simply seeing the words “repair kit included.”

A long technical table is not automatically a useful one.
The real test is whether it gives the buyer enough information to understand how the product will fit the site, how it will be transported, what is required to use it and what is actually included in the order.
If a quotation shows only:
Size
Material
Weight
Printing
there are still several things worth checking.
What does the stated dimension measure?
Does the listed weight refer to the tent alone or the full shipment?
What material forms the airtight bladder?
Is the structure sealed-air or continuous-air?
What equipment is required for inflation?
What anchoring points are built into the structure?
Which accessories are included, and which are optional?
What will the final packed dimensions be?
Can a damaged bladder section be repaired or replaced?
Can walls and openings be configured for the project?
A useful inflatable tent buying guide should help a buyer interpret questions like these rather than simply repeat the numbers already shown in a supplier catalogue.
The same applies to words such as commercial grade, heavy duty or professional.
They may describe how a supplier positions the product, but they do not replace a clear technical definition.

The important part is not collecting as many numbers as possible. Make sure the suppliers are using the same definitions before comparing them.
Does a 5 × 5 m inflatable tent provide 25 m² of usable interior space?
No.
For MX inflatable tents, 5 × 5 m refers to the outer footprint. The inflatable legs and beams occupy part of that footprint, so the clear usable interior area is smaller.
Site footprint and internal layout should therefore be checked separately.
What is the difference between net product weight and shipping weight?
Net product weight refers to the main tent body.
Final shipping weight includes all items packed for the order, which may include walls, pumps, sandbags, storage equipment and other selected accessories.
Always confirm which definition a supplier is using before comparing weight figures.
Why does packed size matter when comparing inflatable event tents?
Packed dimensions affect storage, vehicle loading and potentially freight cost.
For shipping services that use dimensional-weight pricing, the amount of space occupied by a package can affect the charge even when the physical weight is relatively low. FedEx states that shipments may be charged according to whichever is greater: actual weight or dimensional weight.
Does a sealed-air inflatable event tent need a blower running continuously?
No.
MX X Tents and Long Tents are sealed-air structures. Once the frame has been inflated, the valve is closed and a blower does not need to run continuously during normal use.
Can an inflatable tent bladder be repaired or replaced?
Yes.
Small TPU bladder leaks can be repaired with an appropriate TPU patch following the repair procedure. If a local bladder section is seriously damaged, the affected leg can be separated so the bladder can be serviced or replaced without discarding the complete tent.
Compare the Definition Before the Price
A specification sheet should make a buying decision clearer, not simply make the quotation look more technical.
Before deciding that one inflatable event tent is lighter, cheaper or better equipped, check whether you are comparing the same definitions.
For size, confirm what boundary is being measured.
For weight, confirm what is included.
For materials, find out which layer each material describes.
For transport, look at both final weight and packed dimensions.
For day-to-day use, check inflation equipment, anchoring, accessories and repairability.
Those checks usually reveal the differences that a simple price comparison hides.
